It is thought Newcastle have agreed to sign Sochaux Outfit, Modibo Maiga for £6m and have agreed terms verbally with him.
Alan Pardew is thought to be travelling out to France in the upcoming weeks to watch the Mali International perform and see where in the Newcastle side he can slot in.
In August, Sochaux reported Newcastle to FIFA for 'illegally' tapping Maiga up without contacting the chairman or club about the possibility of signing him.
Maiga refused to play for Sochaux causing controversy.
