Newcastle have beaten Everton 2-1, after the home side were 2-1 up at half time with a beautiful goal from Ryan Tayor gave them the victory.

A Heitanga own goal gave the Magpies the lead early on after a fantastic cross from Marveaux was put in to the Everton net by Heitanga.

Ryan Taylor then scored an absolute beauty from outside of the area, going into the top right hand corner, dipping away from Tim Howard, giving Newcastle a 2-0 lead which turned out to be the decisive goal. Jack Rodwell scored a bullet of a header after Danny Simpson failed to mark him, giving Everton a consolation goal just before half time. Yohan Cabaye picked up an injury in the first half and was replaced by Dan Gosling. Sammy Ameobi replaced Sylvain Marveaux who also picked up an injury.

The second half was a tightly fought battle. Newcastle are now unbeaten in 11 PL games and have gone up to second in the table. They need rivals Sunderland to draw or beat Man Utd to remain there.
