Pardew Invites Trappotini To Check Best Out
By Toon Stig
Alan Pardew has invited Northern Ireland Boss Giovanni Trappotini to the Home Match Against Wigan at St. James' Park this Saturday, so he can get a better look at striker Leon Best.
Trappatoni recently stated that Best didn't run enough so he wouldn't be called up until he improved this.
Pardew disagreed and believes he deserves a call up and feels the invitation can help him to see his true colours.
Leon Best has been a key player for Newcastle since the departure of Andy Carroll to Liverpool in January, scoring goals of importance and recently forming a good strike force with Demba Ba.
"I was a little bit
disappointed with the
manager's comments,
because I thought they
were a little bit unfair, said Pardew.
"He's got very good
strikers, Trappatoni, - make
no mistake about that. But
to question Leon's work
rate, I think, was unfair. I'll
tell him that if I ever see
him.
"I think he should perhaps
come and have another
look at Bestie. He might
change his mind. I think
Leon Best's playing as well
as any striker in that Irish
squad."
