Pardew Believes Newcastle Can Win Cup

Alan Pardew believes Newcastle can win the Carling Cup.

Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest after extra time with a last gasp goal by Coloccini.

Pardew said,
"It's a
competition where we will
be looked at as one of the
possible teams who can
win it, and we have got to
believe that.

"We are looking for a
home draw because we
have had two tough away
games.

"The first game (at
Scunthorpe) might have
been unglamorous, but to
win here at the City
Ground is always a good
result, so hopefully (we
will get) a home draw.

"It was a
funny game. When you
make nine changes, you
kind of know that the
team is going to be
slightly dysfunctional in
some of its play, but we
had some outstanding
performances tonight."

The Carling Cup 4th Round Draw Will commence on Saturday 24th September.

I agree with Pardew given the luck of the draw and some luck on the pitch I can see us winning this cup, this is one of the few cups that the bigger teams tend to play weakened sides so why should we not take advantage of that. I am impressed by some of the depth we have, I know we still need to add players but if we qualify for Europe through this cup then players will want to come and play for us again and to be honest European nights on Tyneside are a sight to behold

Of course we can win it. But I'm trying my level best not to get too excited because we got knocked out at this stage last year to a top team, Arsenal so there's a long way to go yet.

Very happy though. Second time we've come through a 4-3 even if this time we squandered a lead 3 times. :p

Toon need to up their game if they want to win it.
2 extra time winners against 2 lower teams.
we may have to face teams like Man City.
