CARLING CUP: Blackburn Rovers vs Newcastle United Match Preview
By Toon Stig
Newcastle travel away to Ewood Park this Wednesday to face Blackburn in the Fifth Round Of The Carling Cup.
The Home side are currently rock bottom in the PL with fans calling for the sack of Manager Steve Kean.
The travelling side are currently unbeaten in all competitions and will be hoping to beat Blackburn in normal time after winning their past two CC matches in extra time, both away too.
A win here would see The Magpies go through to the Quarter Finals of the Competition which would be ideal as Alan Pardew has his eyes set on the cups.
The last time these two met was in the league at St. James' Park last month where Newcastle were victorious winning 3-1 with Ba bagging a hatrick.
Toon are without Shola Ameobi (hamstring) who could be out for up to 6 wks. Keeper Steve Harper has joined Brighton on a month loan in a bout to get first team football. Whether Pardew will start a first team side, a reserve side or mixed will be interesting. Cheik Tiote and Steven Taylor are also injured.
