CARLING CUP 3RD ROUND: Notts Forest vs Newcastle United Match Report

Newcastle were victorious in their 3rd round tie of the Carling Cup after scoring a late goal in the final minute of Extra Time to beat Nottingham Forest 4-3.

Lovenkrands scored the first goal then went on to score a penalty.
Danny Simpson scored the 3rd which looked more like a cross rather than a shot.
Captain Cooccini scored the late winner.

Once again Steve Mclaren is rained on and this time is the 'Wally with out a brolley'.

Hatem Ben Arfa made his return after almost a year out of competitive football. The Frenchman had a good game and was later replaced by Sammy Ameobi. Sylvain Marveaux started his first game for Newcastle and had a great match assisting Lovenkrands to score. Rob Elliot made his debut and will be looking to majorly improve.

Newcastle head into the 4th round of the Carling Cup.

Very happy tonight! We made hard work of it mind you and were put under lots of pressure at times. We led 3 times and got pegged back but we were strong enough to take it and keep coming back. Glad we avoided penalties and look forward to the draw. We need lots of luck if we want to get far in this compo and that includes the luck of the draw.
